The Leclerc stands as the primary tank in France’s arsenal.
Its development initiated in 1971 as a successor to the AMX-30, with deliveries to the French Army commencing in 1992.
Featuring a 120mm smoothbore cannon with an automatic loading system, the Leclerc boasts a modular interior equipped with composite armor.
GIAT, the entity overseeing Leclerc’s production, categorizes vehicles from the first through fifth production lots as “Series 1,” those from the sixth through ninth lots as “Series 2,” and the tenth through eleventh lots as “Series XXI.”
Vehicles in Series XXI are distinguished by a novel composite armor module, showcasing enhanced bullet resistance. Additionally, these units incorporate an IRIS infrared imaging device and a laser rangefinder into the all-round swivel sighting apparatus for the vehicle commander.
Empowered by the ICONE Battle Management System (BMS), users gain a comprehensive view of the battlefield, encompassing both overall and local situations, enemy positions, unit locations, remaining ammunition, and damage status—all at a glance. The package includes etchings, decals, and a transparent plastic box.
